Many people have problems with the skin. Facial skin is very delicate, prone to irritation and exposed to external factors. Inadequate care and diet only worsen its condition. It becomes dry, itchy, dull and grayish. We forget that “we are what we eat”. If we do not take care to eat healthy products, we can be sure that even the best external care will not make the skin perfect.

Vitamins are very important for our skin

In order to enjoy a beautiful, healthy complexion it is necessary to have a diet rich in various vitamins. In butter, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds and sprouts you will find vitamin E. Thanks to it our skin ages later, is firm and full of radiance. This is because this vitamin is an excellent antioxidant that neutralizes free radicals

If we want to have moisturized, resistant to irritation skin, we should make sure that our daily diet includes products rich in vitamin D, such as lean meats, eggs, nuts, bananas, liver, potatoes, whole grain bread and legumes

We reach for vitamin C mainly in the period of colds, wanting to strengthen our body. This vitamin also affects the condition of our skin – it acts as an antioxidant, rejuvenates, oxygenates and strengthens blood vessels. Vitamin C is contained in citrus fruits (lemons, oranges, mandarins), black currants, broccoli, peppers and Brussels sprouts

It is also worth to reach for products with beta-carotene, or provitamin A, which can be found in carrots, spinach, red peppers, dried apricots and animal products such as liver and eggs. Vitamin A is essential for our skin because it supports the functioning of epithelial tissue, strengthens not only the skin but also hair and nails. It also delays the skin aging process. The skin becomes firmer and more elastic.

Beautiful skin? Make sure that your diet contains minerals

Not only vitamins, but also minerals are responsible for the way our skin looks. The products we consume should include iodine, which can be found in marine fish. When there is too little of it in the body, the skin becomes rough to the touch and can also become flaky. It is also important to have iron, which is a component of most red and green vegetables and liver. Its lack leads to anemia, then the skin becomes pale and dark circles appear under the eyes

If you want to take care of the health and appearance of your complexion, do not omit selenium, which protects cell membranes and red blood cells from damage and supports the production of antioxidants. Selenium is found in nuts, yeast, sea fish and cereals. You should also eat fish rich in omega-3 and omega-6 acids, pumpkin seeds and use olive oil and grape seed oil. These acids ensure proper hydration of the skin

Remember to hydrate your body

As you know – the human body is largely (even 50-70%) composed of water. It can also be found in the cells forming the skin of the body. So if we drink too little of it, the body dehydrates. Then the skin becomes less elastic, rough and dull. Wrinkles become more visible, dark circles appear under the eyes – this is a sign that it is necessary to provide more fluids. It is estimated that we should drink an average of 1.5 liters of water every day.

Avoid these ingredients in your diet

Junk food may be tasty, but it is certainly not healthy. If we reach for a hamburger or French fries from a snack bar once in a while, nothing will happen, but eating them regularly can cause many stomach ailments, and also have a negative impact on your complexion. It is worth remembering that the worst effect on the condition of our skin has the consumption of products with a high glycemic index, containing sugar and carbohydrates. So it is worth to limit the consumption of white bread, crisps, candy bars, artificial cakes, etc. All kinds of stimulants – alcohol, coffee or cigarettes – are also undesirable. Nutritionists also agree that people eat too much salt (which is very unhealthy) and very hot spices. So if you like salty and spicy food, it is worth gradually reducing the amount of these additives. Over time it will turn out that without them we can feel the taste of the food better, and in addition – we feel and look better.
