Vacations are a special time that many of us look forward to with longing. But did you know that in addition to choosing the vacation destination and buying a swimsuit, you should also properly prepare your skin for it?

On vacation your skin is exposed to the negative influence of many external factors. That is why it is so important not only to buy a fashionable swimsuit or sunglasses but also to prepare your skin for it. It is advisable to start preparing a few weeks before your vacation – then you will achieve the best results and you will be able to lie on the beach without any fear (of course, in moderation!)

First of all, moisturize

Regular moisturizing is essential to keep your skin healthy and beautiful for a long time. You should pay special attention to it before planning your vacation. Why? First of all, it helps to strengthen the skin’s protective barrier, which will be exposed on vacation to such harmful external factors as the combination of hot air outside with the coolness of air conditioning indoors or the scorching rays of the sun.

Good quality moisturizing creams and lotions will help protect your skin from discoloration and peeling due to sunburn. Choose cosmetics formulated with ingredients such as shea butter, cocoa butter, hyaluronic acid and almond oil.

Second: exfoliation

Regular exfoliation is just as important as moisturizing. It will give your skin a flawless appearance. Its main benefits are that it improves skin tone and prevents imperfections. If you are not yet exfoliating your skin regularly, start doing so as soon as possible and you will quickly notice the positive effects of this treatment. It is enough to exfoliate two or three times a week using a gentle exfoliator, appropriately adjusted to your skin type

If you have sensitive skin, choose an enzymatic scrub. If you have problems with blemishes and excessive oiliness, home-made oatmeal scrub is the best choice for you. You can easily make it yourself: just mix a tablespoon of ground oatmeal with a teaspoon of lemon juice and a tablespoon of natural yogurt. The resulting slurry should be applied to the skin for 15 minutes, after which it should be rinsed with lukewarm water. This scrub is good for your entire body.

Eat healthy and hydrate regularly

Skin care from the outside will not work if you forget to hydrate it from the inside. Drink plenty of water – preferably 2 liters a day. Do not forget about a proper, healthy and balanced diet. It should be rich in vegetables and fruits, especially seasonal ones.

Eat a lot of blackcurrants to improve your complexion. These fruits contain a lot of vitamin C, which is a powerful antioxidant that fights free radicals responsible for skin aging. Vitamin C also helps keep your skin firm and resilient because it is involved in collagen production. Also, beta-carotene, which is converted by the body into vitamin A, helps improve the overall appearance and condition of your complexion. You can find it in carrots or yams, among other things.

How about self-tanner?

After winter, the skin is white, so many women reach for self-tanner before leaving. But not everyone knows you can use home remedies instead of drugstore products. You can get a delicate tan by using cocoa butter or carrot oil.

You can apply them to your skin before your vacation and you will notice that they will speed up the tanning process and help the color change evenly. However, if you prefer to buy self-tanner from the drugstore, remember to prepare your skin before applying it. A thorough exfoliation is a must. When using self-tanner, apply in circular motions and be careful on the knees, elbows, feet and top of the hands (these parts don’t need a lot of self-tanner, so it’s best to apply only the rest of the product on them).
