Make-up removal by Asian women – the Korean way versus the Japanese school

It takes approx. 4 minutes to read this article

Makeup removal is a part of our skin care that must be remembered every day. Improper cleansing is a crime for the skin. Asians know this best – it is worth using their tricks.

The skin of Asian women is luminous and flawless and looks much younger than its age. The secret is, above all, multi-step skin care that prevents the appearance of imperfections on the face. This approach is completely different from the European one, in which we fight against blemishes or blackheads.

One of the most important stages of skin care is a thorough makeup removal. Below we present how Korean women and Japanese women do it. It is worth taking the knowledge from them, because fantastic effects are visible to the naked eye.

The Korean way of removing makeup

Korean women adhere to a 10-step facial care routine, but not all steps are performed every day. The ritual consists of:

– cleansing the skin with a cleansing oil,

– cleansing with water-based cosmetics,

– exfoliation of dead skin,

– toning,

– moisturizing with an essence,

– application of a serum properly selected for the skin’s needs,

– application of a sheet mask,

– eye contour skin care,

– moisturizing with a cream,

– application of a sunscreen.

Proper makeup removal is the basis of Korean skin care. As you can easily see, it is done first with a cleansing oil and only then with a water-based cosmetic. Until now, in the bathrooms of Polish women, it was in vain to look for oils. So how to get rid of makeup the Korean way?

Cleansing oils are used for a reason. First of all, water, soap, gel or micellar liquid alone cannot thoroughly remove all makeup and other impurities, such as dust, sweat or bacteria. Only oil is able to dissolve all this.

It should be used daily – first apply it to slightly damp skin, avoiding the eye area, then massage in circular motions and rinse with warm water. This is not difficult to do, because in combination with water the oil turns into a white emulsion, which can be easily spread over the skin.

The second step is to cleanse with a water-based cosmetic that will wash away impurities insoluble in fat and the remaining oil. Here, any liquids, gels, foams – mild, so that after their use there is no feeling of skin tightness.

How to remove make-up according to Japanese principles?

Japanese school – just like the Korean school – also attaches great importance to make-up removal as the basis of caring for facial skin. What makes them different, however, is mainly the different approach. Japanese women do not follow 10 steps, but limit themselves to 4-5. Their way of skin care is simpler than Korean and does not require the use of many products.

The Japanese beauty ritual includes:

– two-step cleansing,

– peeling,

– toning/lotion – Japanese products immediately contain active ingredients,

– nourishing – one product, necessarily combined with facial massage.

Every now and then Japanese women also apply a mask in a sheet.

Makeup removal for residents of the Land of the Cherry Blossom begins with the application of cleansing oil (in circular motions, but always upward to counteract gravity), followed by a water-based cosmetic. And here you will notice that gels, milks or liquids are not recommended, but thick foams. This is for a reason, because it is the foam and the resulting bubbles that best penetrate the skin and cleanse it.

According to the principles of the Japanese school, if you use a gel, you should first foam it, then apply it to your face, wait a moment for it to work and only then rinse.

Complementary to make-up removal is also a face massage, which is primarily designed to stimulate microcirculation and drain the lymph. In addition, it has a positive effect on the condition of the skin, delaying the aging process. In combination with an exfoliating product it not only removes dead skin, but also facilitates the absorption of cosmetics. The massage is also a moment of relaxation and unwinding after a long day.
